The Office of Clinician Well-Being in the MU School of Medicine and MU Health Care
Craig Rooney, Ph.D. is the Program Director and Counseling Psychologist for the Office of Clinician Well-Being in the MU School of Medicine and MU Health Care. He started this position in August 2019 to assist the Chief Wellness Officer (Stephen Keithahn, MD) in developing a safety net program and other institutional initiatives to combat clinician burn-out. The Office of Clinician Well-Being has since pivoted to provide additional support to clinicians specifically regarding the COVID19 pandemic. It has expanded it services to include School of Medicine researchers. Prior to working in this position, Dr. Rooney directed a fully-integrated behavioral health program in the MU Student Health Center. In his private practice, Dr. Rooney developed a pain psychology program in conjunction with a pain specialist physician in the Columbia community. His career has been defined by working with physicians as both colleagues and clients.
