Herb B. Kuhn
President and CEO
Missouri Hospital Association
This year’s theme, Above and Beyond, certainly is appropriate for this most unusual year! The convergence of a pandemic and all its related challenges — while maintaining business continuity — has tasked health care leaders and providers to perform well above the normal expectations. Add to that the day-to-day challenges of hospital operations and an accelerated timeline for the Medicaid expansion ballot initiative, and it’s little wonder why there is fatigue in the hospital community.
Join us Nov. 4-6 for the Missouri Hospital Association’s first virtual, but our 98th annual, convention. We hope you’ll be rejuvenated by our speakers, enlightened about current issues and reminded about the incredible lifesaving work you perform. At the end, we want you to feel as if you had some time “away.”
We’ll be talking about moving beyond the COVID-19 pandemic to what challenges and opportunities 2021 will bring for our organizations and communities. Missouri’s communities truly are fortunate to have hospitals that are led by such strong and inspirational servant leaders who will meet the new year ready to embrace what comes next.

In 2020, every member of the state’s hospital community faced exceptional challenges. This award celebrates their collective effort to rise above, and move beyond, the year’s challenges through resilience and mission focus.
Close out the 2020 convention with Charlie Cook, one of MHA’s most popular speakers. Occurring just three days after the Nov. 3 election, Cook will provide his insights into the national and Missouri elections, and what we might expect moving forward.
